In the summer of 1971 two Vinson Hall residents suggested a resale consignment facility “to raise funds and assist residents by the sale of unneeded furnishings to other military personnel in the area.” On September 14, 1971 the Treasure Shop, staffed by Vinson Hall residents and members of the Naval Officers’ Wives Club, opened its doors.

Today the Treasure Shop is still staffed entirely by volunteers (from Vinson Hall and the local community) and our doors are open for business to the general public.

The Treasure Shop is part of the Navy Marine Coast Guard Residence Foundation and all proceeds are given annually to the Foundation to support the Residents Assistance Fund. This fund assists residents who outlive their resources. Since 1971, the Treasure Shop has contributed over $500,000 to the Foundation.
